Yes! Pelvic Physical Therapy can help many issues from pain relief to improving bladder and bowel habits. In the end, it is not too dissimilar from PT for other body parts, we just don't think about PT for "down there". Pelvic PT may include treatment to your back, abdomen, legs, core and more! Stretching, strengthening, education and hands-on/manual therapy may be included in your program.
NO! While pelvic floor muscle strengthening can be very beneficial, it is not always recommended. An experienced Pelvic PT such as Ashley will determine if/when Kegels should be part of your program.
An Individualized plan will be determined at your initial evaluation. Everyone heals/improves at different rates. Some people achieve their goals in 2-4 visits, while others need more like 8-10 visits. Visits are no more often than once per week and frequency may decrease as progress is made. The initial evaluation is about 1.5 hours and follow-up visits are no longer than an hour.
